Selected ICMA chamber groups will have the opportunity to participate in a masterclass with our world renowned guest artist, Philip Setzer of the Grammy Award winning Emerson String Quartet.

ICMA Summer Intensive three subdivisions

ICMA Beginners (minimum age 12)

Applicants who would like to be considered for this category should be proficient at or above Suzuki Book 4 or equivalent and have had under 2 years of chamber music experience. PLEASE BE ADVISED BY YOUR TEACHER.

  • Individual applicants should submit video recordings of two contrasting pieces (less than 15 mins). Piano accompaniment is preferred but not required.
  • If you would like to participate with a preformed ensemble, please enter the names of the individuals and submit a video recording of one piece (less than 10 mins) as a group.
  • The recording should be submitted by including YouTube links or BaiduNetDisk links (for applicants who reside in China).
  • Admissions results will be sent to all participants by April 25, 2025.
  • Fees
  • After receiving an acceptance letter, your tuition fee will be due by May 18, 2025
    *All fees should be sent through either Credit Card, Personal Check, Venmo or Zelle.
    NOTE: For applicants who need to pay through wire transfer, please note that the applicant will be responsible for any additional charges for this method of payment.
  • For applicants who need room and board(08/09/2025-08/17/2025), additional fee of $400 (shared double-bed room) or $640 (single-bed room) should be paid by May 18, 2025 with the tuition
    *For applicants who are under 18, certain restrictions may apply during the stay on UAF campus.
  • Lunch will be held daily and is mandatory, students can bring their own food or pre-order lunch through ICMA. For applicants who want to pre-order lunch (08/10/2025-08/16/2025), additional fee of $150 should be paid by May 18, 2025 with the tuition.

12:00-1:30 pm – Lunch

1:30-2:30 pm – Orchestra or ensemble training/rehearsal/coaching

3:00-4:00 – Individual Practice

4:00-5:00 pm – Workshops/Masterclasses

7:00-9:00 pm – Concerts/Reading Party/ICMA activities/Free time!
